Kijabe is Nairobi’s future bike park!! Just an hour outside of Kenya’s capital city Nairobi, lies the quiet missionary town of Kijabe. Built around an American missionary hospital and international school it is hard to find a cold beer here, but not hard to find epic MTB trails. If someone spends a bit of time digging then this place will be incredible!
The Kijabe Enduro was all down to American / Kenyan MTB prodigy Adam Davis, who unfortunately had to move back to the US recently, but has spent years riding here and started the event back last year in 2018. This year a couple of Kenyan Enduro regulars Peter Mwako and Paul Belknap took the reins with a few others also helping out with their time and put together 2 great days of riding. A few more technical trails and a few old school straight out pedal like mad stages made for a great weekend. Definitely the trails here are very raw – a few weeks of digging would make some truly outstanding trails.
Kijabe sure is pretty with views of the rift valley and Mt Longonot as you head down the escarpment, this place just has POTENTIAL written all over it!!
See you next year Kijabe!!
